Research

The research program of the Department is undertaken with one primary objective – the acquisition of information, data and results that are used to support or improve the effectiveness or impacts of Department programmes as per following:

  1. Resource regulation and management: Fisheries resources survey, fish population and distribution, species research, fish diseases, species biology;


     
  2. Public health and Red Tide: Paralytic shellfish poisoning, aquatic ecology, red tide, limnology;


     
  3. Extension and general support: Socio-Economic Development Research concerning target groups (census, Socio-economic studies, demographics, etc.); and


     
  4. Technology development: The biology and life cycles of aquatic life, breeding and seedlings production, fish nutrition, fishing gears and equipment, fish and other aquatic life husbandry.
